“I can think of no more stirring symbol of man’s humanity to man than a fire engine.”
~ Kurt Vonnegut
“All people are created equal, then a few become firefighters.”

One core thing that every citizen expects their government to provide is services in the event of an emergency: a fire, natural disaster, a vehicle accident, and so on. Yet these crucial services – the fire service and emergency response agencies – usually go begging for crucial funding, equipment, and personnel. It’s a very rare public safety agency that has the resources it truly needs to adequately perform it’s job.
In addition, thousands of firefighters and other emergency responders are killed or injured on the job every year. They all willingly and voluntarily took the job of protecting their fellow citizens, and they deserve the utmost support from our elected officials.
The Firefighters and Emergency Responders Coalition is a grassroots project of For a Better America, a non-partisan independent expenditure-only group that operates under Section 527 of the tax code. We represent citizens of all political stripes and from all stations in life in support of electing legislators that stand behind the men and women who make up our nation’s firefighters and emergency responders. They are the brave people who risk their lives to help us in our times of need.
We provide a way for citizens to pool their resources and contribute to the election of candidates who are committed to advancing legislation that will help our firefighters and emergency responders. We support the election of legislators who help these courageous people do their job more safely and more effectively.
While there are professional organizations of firefighters and emergency responders, we afford a way for citizens themselves to get involved and to add their voice to the voice of the professional organizations of first responders. We offer a way for an involved citizen to leverage their contribution by thousands of times by combining it with contributions from other like-minded people, and to have an effect beyond just their local political jurisdictions.
During each election cycle we identify the most critical and close races at the federal level, and direct support to the candidate who best represents the interest of firefighters and emergency responders… and the citizens they serve! We use your funds to make a difference.
